Calling through the sky
Calling the brave warriors
To the place they'll die
The men are marching to the battle
With sword and spear and shield
And nought but their aim to prove their worth
Upon the killing field

Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
Only forward the place to go
And here I am with axe in hand
Running towards my foe
The sound of battle all around me
Screams of anger, fear and pain
The clash of swords, the bash of shields
And arrows forming a deadly rain
My foe is now before me
His fear is reflecting mine
But still we must fight to the death
For now is the place and time
We fought so hard and sweated blood
But the battle starts to sway
I feel a sword pierce through my flesh
And I start to drift away

There are no screams, there is no blood
Only a warm, welcoming cheer
For I am before the doors of Valhalla
So finally my time is here

This is one which I churned out a while ago so I thought I'd put it up here to show you all, and also because I've not put something up in quite a bit.
This is basically a song about a Viking warrior who goes to battle and dies. Cheerful, I know. I always imagined it either sung in the way of a skaldic bard or in the style of Turisas (a Finnish band, look them up). |
